There are four trims available on the Prius c, as well as a special edition trim that offers you unique design options for a bolder look. All trims are affordably priced, especially when you take into account how much you save on gas:

    • 2016 Toyota Prius c One: MSRP starting at $19,650*
    • 2016 Toyota Prius c Two: MSRP starting at $20,360*
    • 2016 Toyota Prius c Three: MSRP starting at $21,785*
    • 2016 Toyota Prius c Four: MSRP starting at $24,495*
    • 2016 Toyota Prius c Persona Series Special Edition: MSRP starting at $21,355*

The engine of the Prius c is a 1.5L Aluminum DOHC 16-valve VVT-I engine paired with an electric motor with EV/ECO modes for maximum fuel efficiency. The Prius c yields up to 53 mpg city**/46 mpg highway**, which makes a huge difference in Los Angeles commutes.

The Prius c is a subcompact hatchback and the smallest branch of the Prius family, making it easy to park and zip around town in it. The minicar has a sporty look with a hood that slopes seamlessly with the windshield. LED headlights, taillights, and brake lights are standard, as well as 15-inch steel wheels — and alloys are an available option on the Three. With the Persona Series, you can have 15-inch black alloy wheels that match its striking black exterior with bold and fun electric lime or cherry pearl accents.

Seating four comfortably, the Prius c possesses heated SofTex® seats for maximum comfort. Folding rear seats make shopping trips and weekend trips easier with robust cargo space. Toyota has added some innovative technology to the interior for the best driver and passenger accommodation.

    • Smart Key System – The doors unlock as long as you have this Smart Key fob on your person, and push button start makes getting on the road quicker without fumbling for your keys.
    • Entune Premium Audio with Navigation – You can stream music as well as access the navigation system on a touchscreen display. Some apps are also available, like radio streaming and restaurant booking.
    • Bluetooth Wireless Technology – Connect your mobile device to the car for hands-free calling accessible from the steering wheel mounted controls.

The Prius c has not yet been rated by the NHTSA, and it received good ratings from the IIHS in areas of moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats. These safety features are offered on the Prius c as part of the Toyota Safety Sense C package.

    • Pre-Collision System: A camera and radar system work together to detect if a frontal collision is imminent with a vehicle in front of you. If no action is taken after audible and visual alerts, braking assistance is applied to prevent an accident.
    • Lane Departure Alert: A camera scans for lane markers to determine if you veer from your lane without using a turn signal. If you don’t steer back in your lane after an audible and visual alert, steering assistance will be provided to guide you back to lane’s center.
    • Auto High Beams: Using camera technology again, this system detects if an oncoming vehicle is approaching to switch between high and low beams for maximum visibility and safety on the road.

Critics agree that the Prius c is an affordable and efficient option for city drivers, offering more than most subcompacts with an impressive fuel economy.

    • Edmunds: “This is a car that embraces its station in life as a fuel-sipping, easy-to-park and practical little hatchback, a conclusion we reached after spending a year testing our long-term Prius C.”
    • The Car Connection: “Still, while the Prius C is officially a subcompact, it’s longer than many other entries in that segment. That increases its interior volume, making it a genuine four-adult car.”
    • Kelley Blue Book: “Toyota’s 2016 Prius C hybrid subcompact allows those with modest budgets to own a clean, green, reliable machine that can be nicely equipped for around $25,000.”
    • US News and Rankings: “However, the Prius c has more standard features than most subcompact cars, including an automatic transmission (CVT), automatic climate control, a 6.1-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, and a USB port.”
